Sargent retired after working for 30 years. He has owned this ‘48 International for “not quite a year.”

“I repainted it and went through it,” said Sargent.

Sargent’s pickup features a stainless steel gas tank, a vacuum advance battery and a wood bed floor. It has the original Flathead 214 engine with a four-speed manual transmission. A modest bench seat is found in the interior and it features the International Harvester logo.

The KB series of pickups was built by International for three years, 1947 through 1949. The KB series replaced the K-series of trucks that had been introduced in 1940 and used by the military during World War II. Between 1947 and 1949, there were approximately 122,000 KB-1 and KB-2 trucks sold. The KB series was replaced by the L series.

For the KB-1 thru KB-5, chrome wings were added on the sides of the grill, a wrap-around chrome piece on the front hood.

Sargent enjoys driving his trucks. He has been to a few car shows, but not to show his trucks.

“I’m not trying to win trophies,” said Sargent. “I usually drive one of my vehicles. I like to go look at the shows.”
